Oh!  They Took My Smile Away

My Birth into World, I thought brought, oh! What joy to thee

But to you all a burden I learned to be

Oh! The only reason was that,

I was a girl child,

A girl child born to thee

Oh! What is my sin, My fault

That on me only should punishment befall

Oh, I ask thee,

Why should a supper or he?

Why should you all my slow murderers be?

Weren’t you all just little girls like me?

Oh! Don’t you have any answer to my query

The second they passed and become minutes

The minutes they passed and turned into hours

The hours passed and become days.

And Oh! Within that little time

They took my smile away.
