The Institution-Aims And Objectives

New Goa Educational Trust`s  G. S.  Amonkar Vidya Mandir was founded in June 1943 by Late Shri Gundu S. Amonkar, educationist, writer and social reformer. It is recognized by the directorate of Education and the Goa S.S.C. Board. The School is managed by New Goa Educational Trust, Mhapsa.

The School is situated at the top of a hill in a healthy locality. The aim of the Institution is:

  • To impart sound moral, physical and intellectual training to boys and girls and thus develop their personality so that they may turn out useful and responsible citizens of the country.
  • To encourage students to continuously strive for excellence in all fields.
  • To Create efficiency and self-confidence in pupils and give them ample scope for self-activity, self-government and self-reliance.

The School prepares students for the Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa Board Secondary & Higher Secondary Education. It imparts education based on a sound curricular and co-curricular programme.

The School Curricula Comprise:

  • Pre-primary Education from Nursery, LKG, UKG in Marathi Medium.
  • Primary Education from std I to std IV in Marathi Medium.
  • Secondary Education from std V to std X in English medium.

ADMISSIONS AND WITHDRAWALS

The admission form of a student wishing to join the school must be filled in by the ward`s parent or guardian in person.
He Must furnish the Head of the school with:

  • Leaving Certificate if the pupil comes from a recognized school.
  • Two passport-size photographs of the pupil.
  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residence

 

School Days & Holidays

  • The scholastic year begins in June and ends in April.
  • The school hours are frm 7.45 a.m to 1.30 p.m with recess of twenty minutes from 10:35 am to 10:55 a.m. The school shall remain closed on public holidays and days sanctioned by the School Managing Committee and the Directorate of Education.
  • At the storke of the first bell, pupils should go to their classrooms. Until the Teacher arrives the first monitor should maintain order in the classroom.
  • All concerned should be in the School premises on all days during the above hours unless specific permission is optained from the Head of the School.

Leave of Absence

  • No student who has been absent on the previous days will be admitted to the class without a written note from the parrent or guardian.
  • Leave of absence is not granted except on prior written application from the parent or guardian (except in case of unforeseen circumstances). Only for serious resons, leave may be presumed.
  • Those absent due to sickness must produce a medical certificate before they are re-admitted to the class.
  • Absence without previous permission renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off from the roll.

Guidelines for Parents

  • Parents/Guardians should see that their ward attends classes regularly and does not remain absent from the school except for weighty reasons. Students will not be permitted to leave the school early, except in case of emergency.
  • Parents/Guardians are requested to be present in the school when called for, on the class social days to meet the Teachers to discuss their ward`s progress and at meetings of the Parent`s -Teachers Association.
  • In case of accident or sudden illness, the School authorities will administer first aid to the student, but the School cannot be held responsible for such accident or illness. Parents are requested to furnish phone numbers for contact in case of emergency.
  • Parents should see that their child comes to School in complete and neat uniform before 7:40 a.m.
  • Parents should also see that the IX and X Std. boys wear full pants with pleats. Narrow pants are not allowed.
  • Parents should see that the boys have a proper haircut. indicated in the school calender. After initial warning if the student fails to cut his hair he will be sent to the barber fora hair cut. Girls should wear two plaits with black bands and black hair bands.
  • Parents should see that their child eats healthy breakfast and avoids junk food.
  • Parents should check his/her bags daily so that they dont`t carry prohibited items to school, such as mobile phones and any other electronic devices.

Private Tuitions

No student will be given tuition privately by the Teachers. Pupils weak in studies will have to attend Supervised Studies and Remedial Teaching Classes.

 

 

 

General Rules of Conduct

  • No books (other than those used in class or borrowed from the School library), magazines, newspapers, CDs, walkmen, mobile phones and I-pads should be brought to the school. Exchange of articles or money transaction between students is not allowed. If a student is found in possession of a mobile phone during the class hours, it will be confiscated and returned to the parent on payment of a fine of Rs. 500/-. If the parent does not wish to pay the fine, the mobile phone will be returned at the end of the academic year. If the parent feels that the ward need to be contacted on mobile phone, written permission of the Headmistress may be obtained.
    The mobilephone must then be deposited with the class-teacher in the morning before the first period and collected after the last period. Chewing gums, soft drinks bottles, packets of chips and similar substances must not be brought to School.
  • All puipls are expected to take an active part in games, physical drill, debates, dramatic performance and other co-curricular activities as they are absolutely essential for their development.

  • Every student should have a copy of the School Handbook which should be brought every day to class. He/She should go through it carefully.
  • Students are expected to make best use of the school library.
  • Any misuse of school property or damage done thereto is liable to find and penalty.
  • No pupil shall represent the school in any team or club except the school team and take part in any open tournament without written permission of the Headmistress.
  • Any student joining the school excursion or participating in any school activity will do so entirely at the responsibility of his parent/guardian and at his own risk; and he shall not swim or disobey during any School outings, like camps.
  • Attendance on the National Days is compulsory.
  • Students should not offer gift to Teachers.
  • Students should not offer gifts to Teachers.
  • Student should not carry large sums of money or valuables, like mobile phones and ornaments with them and never keep them in their bags. Complaints of loss of money or valuables will not be entertained.
  • Students should maintain a friendly and co-operative atmosphere among their classmates and fellow pupils.
  • Running, Playing and causing disturbance in the classroom or School is not allowed.
  • When students change classrooms for any activity or go for physical education classes they should do so in an orderly manner.
  • In the absence of a teacher, students are expected to co-operate with the class monitor in maintaining order and discipline in the classroom.
  • Permission of the Headmistress must be obtained for making any monetary collection for any purpose or arranging meetings, outings and other programmes.
  • Ragging is prohibited in the School and any one indulging in ragging shall be punished in accordance with law.

School Uniforms

All pupils should be habitually clean and neatly dressed and have a proper haircut. The School uniform is to be worn on all class days and for all School functions at or outside the School.
