The grand celebration of the Founder`s Day of G.S. Amonkar Vidya Mandir took place on 21st December 2024 at 4 p.m in the school premises remembering the life achievements of the Founder, Shri Gundu Sitaram Amonkar, educationist writer and social reformer. The programme began with the Lighting of the Lamp Ceremony followed by a cultural display of talent both by the teachers as well as the students. According to the prevailing tradition, The School Managing Committee felicitated Dr. Narayan Desai with the G.S Amonkar Excellence award. This was done at the hands of the School Manager, Shri Mohan Kaul. Ex-student Shri Clayton Barreto, Member of the Indian Embassy in the UK also received the G.S Amonkar Alumnus Award at the hands of Trustee Shri Gurudas Natekar. Dr. Narayan Desai addressed both the parents and teachers on ways in which they can tackle the various problems that have arisen in the current educational system. He asked them to be a part of the solution and not the problem. He advised the parents to try and not to own their children as children have their own ways and dreams and to educate their children in social mannerisms. Shri Clayton Barreto acknowledged the warm welcome given by dignitaries, staff and specially the students. Addressing the students especially, he quoted “ It`s never too late to dream big. If you can lay a finger on your goal and you find a perspective you can achieve the impossible”. He expressed the feeling of being a proud New Goan and representing the School, Goa and India on an international level and do away with the existing label of a `Susegad Goan` through hard work and constant dedication towards his job. Ex-Headmaster Aurio Cunha Gomes praised the Founder saying he was a man of few words down to earth, affiliable and very approachable as a teacher. The Manuscript Magazine for the year 2024-25 was released at the hands of the awardees for the day and Art teacher Mr. Ajaysing Kothawale. The comperes for the day were Mrs. Rupa Parab, Mrs. Pritam Halarnkar and Mr. Alok Barve. The overall incharge was Mrs. Rupa Parab.
